On Saturday I participated in my first 10k. I really enjoyed it! It was in Tooele, we ran down-coming out one of the canyons and it was beautiful! I didn't really take any pics, but ya know...it's okay. My s.i.l. Anne was the one who got me to sign up for it and it was her first 10k as well. Now I have run 6 miles before and it wasn't that bad, but I tell you going downhill was absolutely awesome! I loved it! My first 3 miles I averaged 10 min. miles! I haven't done that in like...never! By miles 4 and 5 I was slowing down but kept on going. Anne would take it slow on the down hills and I would speed up, but on the flat-er parts she would speed up and I would slow down, it was kinda funny that it worked like that but, it did. The canyon was so beautiful at 8 in the morning and it wasn't too cold either. I really got to look around and enjoy where I was and love what I was doing at that exact moment. I don't know when I really got that feeling on a run before. I'm so happy I did it. I finished the race in 1 hour and 5 minutes! Yay! that's my new 10k record ;) I didn't train like I should have and was super sore on Sunday, but I feel great today. I will do better in training for races, but I don't see too many in the near future as they are getting to be pretty expensive. I may only get a couple races in a year from here on out. That's okay, I still plan on making most of my days of running good ones and plan on going on long runs with my friends on the weekends. Here's to having a blast running the races!

So, so sorry to keep you all waiting!
I know I'm so popular you all have been dying to know what we've been up too! (said sarcastically!)
In June, I worked hard in training for Ragnar and then ran it. I think I did well. M.C.'s cast came off which he absolutely loved! I gave a talk in sacrament meeting, went to girls camp, ran Ragnar, and camped out all in one week. Starr and Dimples started participating in a Library Mentor Reading program. They love to read and are doing very well. The three oldest started playing piano again. Love to hear them.
In July, We hiked Adams Canyon in Davis County. We had fun and I know we have pics but I'll have to post them later. I ran in the Riverdale "Old Glory Days" 5k with My S.I.L. Net. It was her first race and she was amazing! So proud of her. I ran a 6 mile trail run with my pals then went for a hike with the family up Waterfall Canyon. I must've twisted my knee or something sometime because I limped down the trail once we got out of tree cover. Ugh! I really need my knee back! I have a 10k in Sept. I'm training for! Starr got to go to Lagoon with two of my brothers and their kids. She had so much fun with them! Thanks guys! We've gone: swimming lots, to see fireworks, and to lots of bbq's and parties. The kids all have swim lessons and they are doing so well! Starr also got to attend a Babysitting class at McKay-Dee Hospital, which she enjoyed and learned a few things to help out with others.
There's more to come I'm sure, so for now, See ya!

Running....How do I put this?
I wasn't born to be a runner. That is a fact, but just because it's a fact doesn't mean I can't change that. I signed up to run a 5k race on July 4Th in Riverdale. It was fun. I ran with my sister-in-law Susan and her boyfriend Nate for about the first 30 seconds. Then they were gone. I blame it on their age and the fact I didn't run for two weeks before the race. They are young people, under 30 and have always been doing some kind of running. According to Nate, his parents have had him running a mile a couple times a week since the sixth grade. Huh? I wonder if Daughter #1 should be doing that. I think we'll start next week with her.
So, I was able to run the 5k in 40 min. 50 sec. that is 21 sec. faster than the 5k I ran in May. That is still good. I am pleased, and sore. I will run a 5k in less than 35 min. someday. I plan on running the Ragnar Relay with my friend Amanda. I will run it. I will do better than ever. (I'm just convincing my self=})I'm very excited to run it. It's something I want to say I have done.
In August, my friend Mel will be running a 10k, and has asked me if I want to do the 5k. I probably will. It's always fun to run. In September my sister-in-law Anne has a walk or run and then in November my sister-in-law Susan wants to run on Thanksgiving morning.
To those I have been running with and will race with, I apologize right now that I.am.slow. I'm sorry. I will get faster though. Amanda and Mel have told me I will. I'm one of those runners, who, if stops for even one week, it takes two to get back to normal.
Oh well! I will become a better, faster, more proficient runner than I have ever been. I remember in junior high, we had to run the mile in p.e. I think I did it in under 8 min. I was young back then and could do it. Right now it takes anywhere from 10 to 13 min. I would like to change that to 9 min. per mile, 10 if there is a huge hill. I love to run now. I feel great when I go. I just keep pluggin' along. I feel strong and the best thing is, I feel healthy. Like I might be around for a long time for my kids. They are a partial reason to my running. i want to be here for them. I want them to have a mom who will play outside and will go on hikes with them and will be there at the soccer games cheering them on.
Maybe my hubby will join us in the mornings? Anyone else want to join us? We love company. My good friends are very supportive and willing to help. I just love them for it. They are great people and can keep up with each other. Love them all.
